Are Microsoft The Kings Of Advertising This Generation?

PS3, 360 & Wii

Microsoft is relatively new to the gaming industry in comparison to Sony and Nintendo, who have been developing games and creating consoles for a much longer period of time, however Microsofts advertising of the Xbox 360 has been great for many games in particular Halo and Gears Of War.

Many people argue Microsoft advertising ability is simply down to the revenue created from their Windows division, however choosing the correct advertising partners is another important factor. Although the Xbox was not in the limelight during the PlayStation 2 era, Microsoft has managed to propel the Xbox 360 into a household name. Sony who arguably had the better console specs wise, fell behind partly due to the year head start by the 360 but also due to the use of abstract adverts. Heres an example of a early PlayStation advert.

Wii U 50% More Powerful Than PS3?

Wii U 50% More Powerful Than PS3?

Wii U will be HD, supporting up to 1080p resolution just like Xbox 360 and PS3, but beyond that it’s unclear how powerful the hardware will ultimately be when it ships sometime next year. Nintendo never provides a full breakdown, although the company did say that the form factor is “near final.” While many assumed Wii U would be on par with the current HD consoles, word is coming in from developers that it’s quite a bit more powerful.

Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia commented today, “Some of the developers we spoke to indicated to us that the console will have 50% more processing power compared to the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. This is yet to be confirmed by Nintendo.” Source

Microsoft's E3 Conference Review: 4/10

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly known as E3, is an annual trade show for the computer and video games industry presented by the Entertainment Software Association and every year gamersoutlook reviews the each company’s conferences. Let me begin by saying we had high hopes for Microsoft E3 Press conference as we stated in a previous article “Will Microsoft Steal E3 2011”.

However after watching Microsoft’s E3 conference we are completely disappointed. The conference was mostly based on kinect games and how many games which have been announced will feature kinect features. It really does seem Microsoft has lost its hardcore base. Relying on Gears Of War and Halo to keep hardcore gamers happy, but its simply not enough when you compare this to Sony’s first party hardcore titles. Which are constantly delivered; not just sequels but new IP’s also being created. Below are some noteworthy announcements for hardcore gamers.

Will Microsoft Steal E3 2011?

Will Microsoft Steal E3 2011?

Microsoft has been very quite in recent E3’s with regards, to massive jaw dropping announcements such as the 2008 megaton of Xbox 360 receiving Final Fantasy XIII. Microsoft has also slowly blurred the line between the Xbox and Playstation brands. Major franchises formerly associated with Playstation such as Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, and Guitar Hero have moved to multiplatform status. Brands like Halo and Splinter Cell and Gears of War augment the shared content by avoiding the Sony systems.
