Too Many Sequels In 2011

Too Many Sequels In 2011

When creating a GOTY 2011 Predictions poll, I noticed that this year we are seeing a lot of sequels. Sequels are not necessary a negative thing when it comes to games. Many of last years sequels were fantastic such as Gran Tursimo and offered many new features and great replay value, however I do like to see lots of new IP’s at the same time.

When the PS3 first launched there was a massive burst of new IP’s trying to make an impact on the new hardware, many of which were first party such as Resistance: Fall Of Man, Motorstorm, Uncharted and Heavenly Sword. These games provided completely new experiences for us gamers; and for launch titles they were remarkably good. Same notion goes for the Xbox 360 when it launched and Gears Of War a fresh new IP launched and left are jaws dropping, especially with Microsoft attention grabbing advertising.

What I prepared minutely spending a year became meaningless.” A user from NeoGAF has provided another translation: “I can’t take it anymore (this is unbearable), I can’t say positive. The thing that I spent one year delicately preparing became meaningless.”
