Microsoft's E3 Conference Review: 4/10

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, commonly known as E3, is an annual trade show for the computer and video games industry presented by the Entertainment Software Association and every year gamersoutlook reviews the each company’s conferences. Let me begin by saying we had high hopes for Microsoft E3 Press conference as we stated in a previous article “Will Microsoft Steal E3 2011”.

However after watching Microsoft’s E3 conference we are completely disappointed. The conference was mostly based on kinect games and how many games which have been announced will feature kinect features. It really does seem Microsoft has lost its hardcore base. Relying on Gears Of War and Halo to keep hardcore gamers happy, but its simply not enough when you compare this to Sony’s first party hardcore titles. Which are constantly delivered; not just sequels but new IP’s also being created. Below are some noteworthy announcements for hardcore gamers.

  • Halo 4 coming Holiday 2012, Ushering in New Trilogy – Microsoft closed out its E3 2011 press conference with a substantial teaser for Halo 4, the first installment in a new trilogy, due out in the holiday season of 2012.
  • Fable: The Journey Coming to Xbox 360 – Peter Molyneux reveals a Kinect-heavy Fable game due for release in 2012.
  • Microsoft Announces Remastered Version of Original Halo – Halo Anniversary will feature a remastered version of the original game’s campaign mode as well as updated classic multiplayer maps.
  • Minecraft Will Also Hit The Xbox 360

Apart from this the conference was in my opinion terrible from the sporting taunts by demonstrators  to the casual gamer announcements for Kinect. We hardcore gamers really got nothing new especially with the Halo 4 announcement being leaked early on Xbox.com. Even the Halo 4 announcement couldn’t steal the show; gamersoutlook rate this conference:
